Before You Book

Common questions, answered

Do I need a license to hunt?

Yes. Every hunter needs a Georgia Shooting Preserve License, which you can buy online for $15 through Georgia DNR — there's no separate state hunting license required to hunt birds on a licensed preserve. It only takes a few minutes; call or text us and we'll send you the direct link.

What's the difference between a guided and unguided hunt?

On a guided hunt a handler and trained dogs run the field for you — a half day releases 10 birds for one shooter, 20 for two, or 30 for three. An unguided hunt lets you work the land yourself and includes more birds for the price: 15, 25, or 35 quail on a half day for one, two, or three shooters. Guided is the easy choice for first-timers; unguided suits experienced hunters with their own dogs.

What should I bring?

Bring your shotgun and ammunition, eye and ear protection, and blaze orange (a vest or hat). Wear sturdy boots and weather-appropriate outdoor clothing for walking the fields. We provide the guide, dogs, and birds on guided hunts. Not sure about anything? Call Gabe and he'll walk you through it.

How far is the preserve from Atlanta?

We're at 1800 Highpoint Road in Bowdon, Georgia — about one hour west of Atlanta and roughly five miles off I-20 at Exit 5, in Carroll County. It's an easy drive from the metro area and most of west Georgia. When you book, Gabe provides turn-by-turn directions to the property gate.

Can you clean my birds?

Yes. Bird cleaning is an optional add-on at the end of your hunt — $1.00 per quail and $2.00 per pheasant — so you can take your harvest home ready to cook. Just let your guide know you'd like cleaning when you arrive.

How do I reserve a date, and how do I pay?

Reserve online through our booking page or call or text Gabe at (770) 580-9702. Booking online reserves your date with payment in full up front, so there's nothing left to pay on hunt day. We recommend booking ahead, especially for weekends.
